[pct-l] Mountain Lion Attack

This happened yesterday in Prarie Creek State Park just north of Orick, CA 
(about 60 miles south of the Oregon border). Both folks are fine, but they 
had quite a battle. The husband is *lucky* to be alive. While trying to get 
the lion to release the mans head, the wife bent an ink pen trying to stab 
the lion in the eye!!! Hunters killed 2 lions near where the attack took 
place.

I've seen 3 moutain lions in my life; all of them crossing the road along a 
half mile stretch where 101 runs along the eastern border of this park. The 
locals will tell you, for the last 2 years anyways, that there has been an 
explosion of lions in this area. Livestock, pets, all disappearing at an 
alarming rate.

Oh, also a *huge* and growing herd of protected elk live in the park. 
Coincidence? I think not.

Redwoods ' , etc . Something like . ) He was attacked , she drove the lion 
off . I remember the cyclist attack - who was saved by a friend and the 
woman attacked who went back to retrieve her boyfriend ' s dark glasses near 
Kern River . Others ( any one ) ?
