I saw Sundays message 5 and they were asking about ice ax and the reply was low snow levels as much 70%.Probably not needed. Would crampons still be recomended? Low snow would seem traveling the sierras easier but also seems like we will be missing out on certain element of of the challenge and adventure.
I would assume naturally a low snow year means a drier southern Cal? Does this seem to hold true? As far as creeks and springs being dry, from reading the guide book and yogi's handbook it appears like much of the water is depended upon spickets at the camgrounds and town or caches. Alot sound schetchy from cows or there just always dried up anyways. Is there a trend for the low snow years and the resulting effect for socal?
