It's recommended washing the bottles in a dishwasher several times (I
assume this means more than three times) with very hot water. Doing so
will leach out the majority of available bfp's and reduce toxicity to
well below any level of concern. Many Canadian suppliers (such as
Mountain Equipment Coop) have already pulled hard plastic
containers (the kind with the bfp's) from the shelves and are supplying
containers made from metals, soft or alternate plastics, or other
materials.
