[pct-l] Hiking poles

They saved my hike

Warning: Hiking poles are only as helpful as the hiker is/isn't smart.

I used my pole in 12/06 to see if an angled rock was icy. After falling and injuring  both my MCL and totally tearing my ACL (requiring two surgeries), yes, the rock was icy.

are we there yet
