[pct-l] Not treating water on the PCT

Scott has also gotten very sick on several of his thru hikes, likely
attributable in part to the non-filtering. I got giardia this year on our
section hike of California Section E. The only water I did not treat was the
stream at Upper Shake Campground. An interesting experience, to say the
least. Had I been on a thru-hike, it probably would have ended my hike, or
at least put me so far behind I would not have been able to finish.  I have
also known of too many hikers whose dream and hikes were cut short by not
treating water.  YMMV.

Hello,

Scott Williamson doesn't treat his water on the PCT.  I understand the
dangers of  not treating water (read about it a gazillion times).  I'm
familiar with all the disclaimer advice.  I just want to know: has anyone
here ever caught any 'bugs' by drinking untreated water *on the PCT*? (I'm
not concerned about other trails).

If so, what part of the trail did you catch it in?
