Stacy, i'm afraid i don't have any parking advice, but i do have other unhappy words to offer. Put it this way, if you don't enjoy this hike, don't think your husband is crazy. The section you'll be hiking is FAR from the nicest part of the PCT. You'll hear road and train noise, it's relentlessly uphill, there's snakes and poison oak. Mind you, there's beauty to be found in anything i'm sure, and there are some long views and such, but this was just about my least favorite part of the whole PCT.

Don't let my one opinion deter you...just keep the expectations low and you wont' be disappointed.

Also: don't camp on the jeep roads that intersect or come near the trail. I nearly got run over at night there. There's a suprising number of off-road vehicles that go through that area.

Also also: the spring below and before Guffy campground is a really wonderful water source. Really good and cold water...memorable and worth the couple minutes walk down below the trail. When i passed, it was marked with a handmade sign, but keep an eye on the maps.

happy hiking!
