[pct-l] What size backpack?

Not trying to be funny, but the answer to this question is what size
pack do YOU need? A common mistake is to buy a backpack first. This
should be one of your last purchases. How bulky is your sleeping bag and
jacket (if any), and how much can it (or do you want it) compress? Where
will your sleeping pad go, inside or out? Get your other gear and see
how much room your gear, food, and water needs. Then buy a pack that can
handle that. Personally I think the Catalyst is a bit on the large size,
preferring something like the ULA Conduit or the Gossamer Gear G4 (I
have both). (And yes, any of these can hold a bear can.)
