Brian Frankle of ULA was the first person to thru the Hayduke a couple of
years ago. Brian changed the "official" route a bit so it could be thru
hiked with no cashes.

    What I tell people about the HT, is that in places  it's something like,
"you're walking in a river, counting canyons on your  left, as you have to
sorta rock scramble up the 6th canyon to a plateau. BTW,  there are no trail
angels; no paved roads, except once every hundred miles; no  water reports,
except info from 1-3 years ago; no other hikers; and you'll have  to spend
days driving food & water caches in on bad roads.
