[pct-l] GPS vs PLB

I am in a similar situation as the original poster. My family has asked me
to carry a SPOT. At first I flatly refused but then when I realized how
concerned they were I decided I would consider carrying an extra half pound
or so. I decided that, even if I think their concern is bordering on the
irrational, it would be worth the extra effort to give them some peace of
mind. Plus, they agreed to pay for the service :) Of course if SPOT
doesn't resolve their recall issue in time, maybe I won't have to carry
one. I'm curious how a GPS could be used to update the map position as
well. Maybe they would agree to a GPS instead ...

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. sorry for the double post to you, postholer, I just hit reply the first
time.
