[pct-l] Hand cycling along the PCT?

Neon,

This is a hard question to answer -- not because the answer is unclear, but
because I wish the answer were different.  Wheeled vehicles are prohibited
on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. It's designation under the
National Trails System Act is as a foot and equestrian trail. Because of
that designation and purpose, the trail was not constructed for other uses.
The width of the trail according to the standards set by the managing agency
(USFS) is 18". There are places where it is sometimes wider, but generally
it is a narrow footpath closely bordered by vegetation that would not
accommodate something 3' wide for any distance.  

There are some outstanding town stops along the way that may afford some
opportunities for your brother to come out and spend some time with you
where he could also enjoy outdoor trail activity.  Beyond southern
California, towns like Mammoth and Tahoe, just to name two, are close to the
trail with lots of recreational possibilities for people of all abilities,
including trails in eye-popping scenic locations where wheels are not
verboten and there is much fun to be had.

Hello all,

I am planning on thru-hiking this year, and am doing so not just because I
enjoy it- but also to raise money and awareness for my Brother-in-law's
non-profit- The IM ABLE Foundation (http://getupandmove.org/home.php)  My
brother-in-law, Chris, has a genetic disorder that has taken away most use
of his legs since he was diagnosed at age 21.  He started the IM ABLE
Foundation to promote active lifestyles for people with disabilities,
encouraging people to get out there and enjoy life.

Since I am raising money and awareness for his foundation on my thru-hike,
Chris would love it if he could come out and join me with his ~3ft wide hand
cycle for a day or so on the trail.  I would like to hear from experienced
voices out there where the best potential for that to happen would be.
 There's only one issue- he will not be able to come to the desert in SoCal
because he has a triathlon he puts on every year in May (this year it's May
22)
