When the ticks are out in force you will need head to toe protection. They are 
in the grass along the trail. They are on the vegetation that you can't avoid 
brushing against as you pass through. They are there waiting for you on the 
branches that you duck under. They seem to love getting into your hair. They are 
out to get you! If you want to avoid them (and the possibility of Lyme 
desease) you need socks, pants, shirt and hat made of fabric saturated with 
permethrin - not just "some" of your cloths. Read Dr. Murrey's post on how he 
has treated his cloths for the past five years. Or use ExOfficio.

Railriders have an 'insect shield' in some of their clothing. Good for 70 
washings ,they claim.
