The best app is Backcountry Navigator by Crittermap Software available on
Android Phones.  For $9.99 it turns your phone into a GPS unit.  It is an
unbelievable bargin and better than a $500 Garmin GPS.  You download topo
maps (free) and can download halfmile's PCT GPS tracks and you're off and
running.  It uses your phone's GPS....so it works when there is no cell
phone service!!!!   Now you just need to figure out how to charge your cell
phone while on the trail. -- Campbell
