Hi Mango,

Yosemite James had mentioned the Crest bus.  That's the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority.  I had called them regarding my ride this summer. I found them to be very accommodating.  They will do what Greyhound won't .  They will drop you off or pick you up along their route - not just at scheduled stops. They will be picking me up on August 16 at the intersection of 108 and 395 and bringing me to Reno. The nearest scheduled stop to 108 is Bridgeport. I had planned to hitch there. Since Greyhound his discontinued their route west on 80 from Reno, I will have to hitch to Truckee and then hitch north on 89 to 49 and then hitch to Sierra City - where I will have left my horse. That will be no real problem time-wise since I will be in Reno at 12:15PM. Then I will ride south to where I will have parked my rig. my.

The Crest bus is Based in Bishop. You can call the ESTA at (800) 922 1930. They don't run every day so I suggest that you check their timing. You will have to hitch up to Kennedy Meadows from 395. A sign and a smile should work.

Have a great hike.

You are more likely to get a ride if those towns aren't too far away.  Once you get a ride you can always ask how far they are going.  And flash a smile!  That works for me.
