We are planning to hike from Cascade Locks to Manning Park, starting Aug 1 at a medium pace, arriving Manning Park about Sept 8. I have two questions:1) What is the state of the original PCT route thru the Glacier Peak area? I believe it is now passable and critical bridges are in place (in some crossable fashion). Can anyone confirm this?2) Given the snow conditions cool weather, do you think an ice axe and/or crampons are needed? I saw the photos of the first SOBO, but we'll be there in late August/early Sept. Don't want to carry the weight, but also don't want to be foolish. Thanks Ma and Pa
