I have the REI Quarterdome 1 too and I really like it.  For one thing, I
like entering a tent from the side, rather from the head.  Yes, it's cozy,
but then less space to lose things.  It's wide enough for me to put my
backpack crosswise and rest my knees at night, or further down to elevate my
feet.  At the time, I bought it (2008) I believe it was the lightest
freestanding tent with separate rain fly on the market.
