Lisa:

Good info. I have downloaded the tiles into BCN at 15 zoom for the whole
trail. It was slow at my home in the foothills as we have weak cell
reception, so I would load the tiles in town where the reception was strong.
Lunch at Carl's Jr would do a whole section if I selected about 2 miles of
topo on each side of the trail trace. The whole trail only used 2.6 gb of my
16 gb card. I saved about 4 miles on each side of the trail plus some
potential exit trails in the high sierras and WA. In retrospect I wish I
would have saved more topo, I didn't realize it would use so little space on
the card.

Nice instructions.

For other Android users who do not want to pay, there is an alternative app
called OruxMap. OruxMap doesn't have a cool name, but it has all of the
major features BCN does. I like the 'tracking' feature in OruxMap better,
but importing the PCT waypoints seems better in BCN...because of the
preservation of icons. I found that OruxMap has a map called Cloudmap that
had a very distinct red line representing the PCT. I'm not sure if it had
the whole trail but its worth checking out.

Also, I was able to download offline BCN maps (MyTopo) for each section of
the PCT with no memory issues...at a 15 zoom...etc.
