Keep in mind that the sisters were hobbits, not 200 pounders with packs.
I talked with a guy last summer at some shelter 25 miles into the 100
mile wilderness of the AT.  He said he tried it barefoot and made it
thru Georgia but he couldn't do the miles and had to choose every step.
good luck, its a fools errand.
