Read "Piper's Flight" and "Adventure and Magic" by Diane Soini.  She tells
it like it was for her.  Totally.   She had a tough time in 2008 (Piper's
Flight) and had it figured out pretty much in 2009 (Adventure and Magic)
and had much more fun, but still had some miserable days.

Available at Lulu.com.  Amazon.com has Piper's Flight,  and Barnes and
Noble has them both on Nook Books for a much lower price.
