Yeah, good luck with not starting that discussion. :-)

I just want to know if there are people who have done a thruhike of the PCT
with their dog and succeeded.

To try to answer your question instead of yelling at you, I'm aware of only
a small handful who've done a more-or-less complete thru-hike with a dog.
I'm not aware of *anyone* who managed to have their dog with them the entire
time. Dog hikers tend to fly under the radar for some reason, though, so
maybe there are more than I know.

I remember that there were a couple of successful human/dog pairs back in
the 2002-2004 timeframe. One had the trail name of "True" and her dog was
"Timber". I don't have any contact info, though. I remember that Timber
had to go off the trail several times for various reasons, often riding with
Meadow Mary in her motorhome. If that option hadn't been available I don't
know if True would have been able to finish.

You might also read the journal at this web site:
http://www.pctforpets.org/SU_1.html. The site hasn't been well-maintained
so the pictures no longer load, but you can still read the text of the
journal entries by clicking the "Next Update" link to navigate through them.
This guy ended up aborting his hike with his dog after about 400 miles, I
think, but he wrote some interesting details about the struggles he faced
during the portion that he completed.
