[pct-l] Journaling on the trail

I've used my Iphone for journaling for many years. I always keep my
Iphone turned off unless there's service and I am making a phone call,
checking weather forecast, etc. When I journal, I put the phone in
airplane mode. I find that it uses very little battery in this mode. I
have a separate GPS that I use if the trail calls for it (CDT), so I
don't use the phone as a GPS or to show maps.

I use the Notepad function to type my journals and admit to finding
the keyboard a little bit of a problem, though not so much that it
prevents me from typing the journal pretty quickly. I have a template
that I use to format the journal with such things as: Date, Destination,
Daily Miles. When I do have internet service (usually in or close to
towns, ski areas, or interstates), I then copy the text from the notepad
journal entry into the web browser for posting the journal. I'm sure
you can google how to copy and paste.
