[pct-l] Wool sweater vs UL Down jacket

Here's a weight/cost vs warmth trade-off I need your expert opinions on:  I
have a 10 ounce merino wool sweater along with a warm base layer.

For $150 i can upgrade to a Mont Bell UL Down Jacket (7.6 oz).

Would ya rather:
Go with 1) Merino Wool sweater (3 ounce weight penalty, $147 cost savings
