It IS a bit ironic that warming leads to localized freezing.  Warming is
the overall trend, but the result in all sorts of record breaking weather
patterns, both cold and hot.

What's a little too scary to be ironic is how that warming can then
rapidly lead to more widespread freezing.   We now know that when things
get too warm, the resulting introduction of fresh water into the oceans
can trigger a rapid global shift ... an ice-age in less than a decade.
