Fewer hikers and less trail maint support would translate to the powers that be to abandon the trail idea and use the resources for thinks like Condos.

Just think of all those visa views and what that land would sell for in the hands of the right developers.

Better consider all outcomes before taking actions.   Unintended consequences can be a bitch.
