Just got to silver city an hour ago. Highly recommend the black range the later in the fall it is depending on snow conditions if any. Four of us just took the river route from snow lake and the canyon was bordering on too cold. Ice along river and shaded areas that never defrost. Sunlight in upper canyon limited. Water temp 32. Air temps in morning below freezing. If taking river must have some way to defense cold by neoprene socks.or something else. One guy went all the way in tevas which I think might be warmer then shoes and socks because water drains away from Foot faster.
The canyon is beautiful and really shouldn't be missed if possible.
I am considering going back from silver city to do the blacks.
So this info is helpful on other places to resupply other then pie town and silver city. Will decide tomorrow....
